The Speech-Language pathologist’s responsibilities may include:
Providing individual and group stimulation of speech and language abilities, utilizing behavior modification, oral facilitation, phonemic vocalization, vocabulary development,auditory memory, and expressive language;
Planning, organizing, and performing intensive individualized speech and language programs for students who may have multiple handicapping conditions;
Performing a variety of non-instructional duties, including therapy and instructional development activities, student supervision, and advisory and/or consultative functions; and
Providing appropriate and effective language and speech therapy experiences for students from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and with varying mental,social, and emotional abilities.
Assess communication skills of the assigned population.
Develop individual speech and language programs based upon assessment results.
Work with classroom teachers, para-educators, and parents to implement speech and language programs.
Participate in the eligibility and planning required for development of the IEP when a communication disorder is present.
Maintain records as required.
Provide teacher in-service programs and parent workshops related to development of communications skills.
Establish home training programs for students.
Conduct speech and language therapy programs for specifically selected students.
Provide consultative services to parents, teachers and other school personnel.
Coordinate speech and language services with students' regular and special education programs.
Demonstrate attendance sufficient to complete the duties of the position as required.
Perform related duties similar to the above in scope and impact as required.
Travel to multiple sites within Los Angeles County may be required.
Multiple 10 or 11 month positions available.
A California credential authorizing service for Speech-Language Pathology Services AND
A California Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST) OR
A valid license / RPE issued from Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board, California.
A valid California driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites is required
